Public Transportation to US Airports

Since there are so many of us in the laboratory informatics industry who travel, I wanted to pass along an article you might find interesting with regard to the issue of getting public transportation to the airport in the US.

When I go to Europe, I almost take it for granted that I can get around with public transportation from the airport to the hotel, although it’s not always convenient when I have my laptop and a piece of luggage with me. When I lived in Boston, we would complain about the peculiar manner which the Silver Line extended the transportation system from the subway to Boston’s Logan airport, but at least it did exist. That, plus they have the Logan Express (and another one to get you to the Manchester, New Hampshire airport) which allows express bus service to the airport from several centralized locations, as well. Even then, taking a taxi to the suburbs isn’t too bad considering the area is so small.

Thinking more about it, though, in most cities, I either drive and pay to park or I setup a limo service (not a real limousine, I just mean a ride to and from the airport). Public transportation is seldom a practical option, when it is even available. Thus, I thought I’d pass along the link to this article that discusses the subject: http://travel.nationalgeographic.com/travel/traveler-magazine/the-insider/rapid-transit/
